Since its founding in 2005, BIASA artspace has grown out to play an important role in fostering some of the most significant new developments in contemporary art working closely with prominent emerging artists and curators to help ascertain a new introduction to contemporary art in Indonesia now.
Today Biasa artspace presents an artist, as many before her, who found a freedom and ability to express once again, within and under the influence of the engaging culture one cannot help but be fascinated by when stepping on the Asian ground. Interested in the ways we attain knowledge of ourselves, Kirsty Ludbrook’s ‘The Frames in Between’ explores the simple moments of reflection in which
understanding comes to us. - the undrawn frames in a storyboard.
The work is delicate yet bold, embroidery and manga the unlikely matched techniques used in large-scale silk artworks, translating with subtle magic a world often missed yet so vivid within our imaginary.
