Since it’s opening in June 2009, Kendra has become one of the most talked about galleries in Indonesia. It has an eye on the pulse of the young contemporary artists coming out of the three art centers of Indonesia, namely, Jogyakarta, Bandung and, of course, Bali.
Being so closely watched by the Indonesian Art Community and Asian art collectors has its advantages and they would like to utilize this to benefit the community.
Kendra would like to go back to the core of art, to the basic instinct of observation and appreciation and organize a charity event celebrating the gift of sight and the gift of beauty. To celebrate Kendra Gallery 2nd birthday, they would like to give something back to the Balinese community thanking this beautiful island for being instrumental in all their success.
Vision is essential; to appreciate, to learn and to open ones mind to possibilities. Without sight, art is a mere idea rather than a tangible truth so Kendra would like to help enrich the world of the young, of Bali’s future. Children and Young adults, who are physically accepted into the community if given the corrective surgery they need, will have more of a chance with the boost in confidence to take their creative dreams and make them a reality. Art is an intrinsic part of the soul and is in the heart Balinese society. It is prevelant from their day to day lives through to their ceremonies and festivals.
Together with The John Fawcett Foundation aka Yayasan Kemanusiaan Indonesia, Kendra Gallery is planning to raise money to help restore the eyesight of children.
Based on information given by the foundation, each child would need approximately US $ 350 to have an operation that could give them a whole new lease on life.
Involvement in the charity will ensure your status as a supporter of the Balinese community.
The John Fawcett Foundation and its Indonesian counterpart, the Yayasan Kemanusiaan Indonesia, is a humanitarian foundation that assists needy people in Indonesia, particularly those with medical problems. It offers its assistance to people in the lower socio-economic group free of charge and without religious, political or ethnic consideration.
The mission is to restore vision.
The vision is to restore dignity.
The method is to create miracles.
