In the 1930’s the now famous south area’s of Bali where far from the bustling north coast and main port of Singaraja, and further yet from the concern and interest of its visitors.
Indeed the stretch of beach running west of the airport, from Tuban to Seminyak has only since the 70’s began to grow to present day bustling and crowded seaside resort town, getting its fame through the expansion and nowadays overly ‘popular’ and crowded Kuta beach.
With the incessant increase of attention and the higher density of population it resulted in, the town has and keeps expanding, refining itself in elegance and style as it moves further out west.
Indeed the furthest parts of Seminyak, known as “Oberoi” and “Petitenget” are the place to be, home to the more trendy shops and restaurants.
Accordingly, the newest hotels, or more exclusive villas and residences, are travelling west and finding home on the outskirt of this sought after area, in neighbourhoods where peace and quiet are to be found a short drive away from the appeal of the centre ‘in vogue’.
Thus it comes to be that the latest upcoming, or rather noticed area is Canggu and its periphery, leading the way to Tanah lot and the Tabanan regency.
Indeed its quiet and still preserved environment has been attracting a more discerning crowd, in search of the peace and characteristic atmosphere to be found amongst the rice fields, wilder stretch of beach or traditional villages, without compromising its access to the happening and lively quarter.
Indeed little compares to waking up and being surrounded by what ultimately is the essence of Bali ; a peaceful way of life centred towards traditional communities and reverential show of appreciation to the bountiful earth, rivers, forest and sea. Little time takes for the magic to operate, and suddenly one reveals in the beauty of being elsewhere.
