| The name is representative of the strech of beach north of Petitenget and Batubelig, and south of Tanah Lot and its temple, though originally a small fishing village.
Far from the ‘city like’ center and yet within very reasonable reach, Canggu has attracted in the past few years an ever growing crowd of expatriates residents with its appealing peace and countryside feel. Its beaches, wilder and less crowded than the south strech of Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, are well known for good surf breaks.
It homes the Canggu Club and its sporting facilities, as well as a few pleasant eateries like the ‘echo Beach’ institution and the quaint, surprising and delicious ‘Sukerti’s’ in pantai Berawa.
